So it looks like October 4th is out, so we may not be gaming again until November. Given this possibility I plan to do a lot of stuff here on Aurumvorax in the interim, hopefully at least one sizeable update every Saturday. You can read and write any language you can speak, so yes. Generally the characters are literate (this is probably a deviation from medieval history, but, it's the way they did it). I think the hobgoblin companies are pretty high-tech and educated. It might be that those shattered lands barbarian guys (Thangaren, Thanagar, Aitog, Skaldburen, etc) are illiterate, but, I doubt it.

I think you started with goblin, common, and maybe more languages if you have intelligence 12+. You could learn additional languages (Cook knows some he could teach), but you would need to put a skill rank in the "linguistics" skill for each additional language.
